基本上，新旧版本的剧本变化不大，有所分别的则是剧中的数个人物转了性别；此外，所有的机械设定，例如人类所用的战机、战舰，又或是机械人 Cylons 的设计已经经过现代化，不会有追不上潮流的感觉。而这次的新版本因为得到众多观众好评，故 SCI FI Channel 在近期宣布重拍这套电视剧，希望能够继续延续这个科幻经典传奇。
